According to well-known spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle, the most important thing in the quest for awakening is what he calls ‘the transcendence of thought’. This means being able to turn the off-switch on all the endless inner blabbering, the on-going stories of ‘me’ and my drama, and the restless monkey mind with all its inner commentaries and unhelpful monologues — that never stop… All of this leads to our unhappiness without our even realising it.
Is there another way to live? Can you go further than your mind? Will it make a big difference in your everyday life?
There is absolutely another way to live that does not involve thinking as we’ve always known it.
Albert Einstein, the brilliant physicist and philosopher said: “I think 99 times and find nothing. I stop thinking and swim in silence. And then the truth comes to me.”
Thinking doesn’t stop — it just happens less. Instead there are long stretches of inner silence, and then when something needs to be thought about and considered, a kind of brilliance and intuitive thought arises — suddenly there’s the solution to the problem, or the knowing how to proceed. Your thinking has entered a new level that will surprise and amaze you. As well, you will experience an unexpected peace and happiness. Give it a try — it’s the most important shift you can make in terms of awakening.
Victoria will share ways to practice this deep form of presence.
