School visits

The MACM is a museum that sparks children’s interest and offers an environment conducive to out-of-classroom learning. Antiquities are interspersed with artworks by Picasso, Warhol, Matisse, Chagall, Calder,... The MACM collection will take you on a journey in the footsteps of the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Greece and Rome where you will encounter some of the greatest artists.

You are invited to choose either a guided session led by a member of the MACM team or a self-guided visit that will allow you to take charge of the tour. In both cases, the format and the duration of your visit can be adjusted to your learning goals. Do not hesitate to come and meet us ahead of time to discuss your visit and your requirements with us.

Self guided visit: we can provide you with learning resources or activity sheets to help you plan and support your visit.

Guided session: you can select a tour amongst the following guided visit topics or contact us to plan a bespoke session:

  • Egyptian, Greek and Roman myths
  • Ancient Egypt
  • Animals in Antiquity
  • Self-representation: Pharaohs, warriors and Roman emperors
  • Everyday life in ancient Rome
  • Greek legacy: everyday objects and myths
  • What is art?

To ensure that you enjoy your visit:

We recommend that groups be composed of no more than 15 to 20 pupils depending on their age and the format of your visit.

In order to accommodate larger groups or to suit the requirements of your visit, your group can be divided into two with both groups enjoying simultaneous visits.

The temperature in the galleries is constant and children might find it cold. Please suggest that they take a jumper with them should they need it.

Please note that displays may change due to temporary exhibitions and loans of artworks
